
From last Friday to Saturday (July 31-Aug 1), a motorcycle event named ‘RXZ Members 8.0’ was held in Terengganu, where it drew over 200,000 participants from across the country.
Unfortunately, it has also given rise to fatal road accidents, with participants losing their lives either while making their to or back from the event, and putting a strain on emergency services.

Female student dies in accident
According to Berita RTM, a 21-year-old female student at a private institution of higher learning lost her life while returning home from the ‘RXZ Members 8.0’ gathering yesterday (Aug 2).
The victim, identified as Arissa Shazzira Zainudin from Kuantan, was riding her Yamaha Y125ZR motorcycle at KM356 of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2), near Bukit Besi, at about 4.55pm prior to the accident.
Dungun district police chief Superintendent Nik Ab. Halim Nik Mat said in a statement that she reportedly crashed into the rear of the Mitsubishi Triton that had stopped in the emergency lane and was thrown into the middle of the road.

Arissa suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was taken to the Dungun Hospital Forensic Unit, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
