THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said 22 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) along with six dependents have returned to the Philippines from Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after encountering personal, medical and employment-related problems.
OWWA said the group arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on board Cebu Pacific Flight 5J031. Their state of health was evaluated by the Manila International Airport Authority medical team.
OWWA said the OFWs received immediate assistance that included meals, financial aid, transportation money and temporary accommodation for those who needed it.
It added that its regional welfare offices will assist the group in accessing reintegration services, livelihood programs, skills training and other welfare assistance.
Meanwhile, 12 Filipino seafarers from the Panama-flagged LPG tanker MV Gas Aura, which was among the vessels hit by drone attacks while anchored near Kavkaz, Russia, in the Black Sea, have also returned to the country on Thursday night.
The seafarers arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 via Turkish Airlines Flight TK084 and were given initial government assistance.
Two Filipino seafarers who sustained burn injuries were among those earlier repatriated for medical treatment.
