A Malaysian student who once went viral for climbing trees to sit for her online exams has now completed her first degree and is continuing her studies in medicine.
Veveonah Mosibin, 24, from Pitas, Sabah, recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Science from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
She is currently pursuing a medical degree at Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam, where she is in her second year of the MBBS programme.
Went viral during pandemic
Veveonah first gained nationwide attention in 2020 when she climbed a tree to get better Internet connection for her online exam.

She documented her experience in a video titled “24 Hours On Tree Challenge”, which quickly went viral and resonated with many Malaysians facing similar connectivity issues.
Shifted from marine science to medicine
During the pandemic, Veveonah found it challenging to continue marine science studies due to the lack of hands-on learning.
This led her to switch to medicine in 2021, with the aim of becoming a doctor and contributing back to her community.
Clarifies she has not graduated from medicine
Veveonah has clarified that while she has completed her first degree, she has not yet graduated from her medical programme.
She shared that she is still in her second year and expressed gratitude for the support she has received, while hoping for the best as she continues her studies.
