After persistent pressure from the Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA), the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has cancelled the transfer order of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Jojo Taneja of Uchana in Jind district.

The association has been walking the agitational path for the past 25 days and protesting for the cancellation of the “unjustified” transfer order. The association claimed that the SDO was transferred after he detected a case of power theft involving an influential person of Uchana. The association termed the cancellation of the transfer as a victory of struggle and unity.

According to the official order issued by the DHBVN, the temporary transfer of engineer Jojo Taneja from Uchana in Jind district to Jhojhu Kalan in Charkhi Dadri district has been withdrawn with immediate effect.

A large number of engineers gathered at the headquarters of DHBVN in Hisar on Thursday. Addressing the gathering, HPEA general secretary Ravinder Ghanghas said the decision reflected the collective strength and unity of engineers, adding that the association’s broader struggle would continue.

The association has also demanded that the management take action on pending issues to ensure officers can work without any pressure in the interest of the corporation. The HPEA has sought regular appointments to vacant posts of Technical Directors, Chief Engineers (CEs), Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Executive Engineers (XENs) in HVPN and DISCOMs. It has also demanded the immediate release of pending promotions, completion of the restructuring pending in HVPN since 2009, formation of new divisions pending in DISCOMs since 2019-20, withdrawal of “unnecessary chargesheets” issued to engineers, immediate release of the SDO seniority list and posting of SEs in Hansi, Dadri and Nuh.

The engineers warned that if the management failed to take positive decisions on the remaining demands soon, the association would be compelled to launch a complete boycott of engineering work.
