
BUKIT MERTAJAM: The road transport department (JPJ) has issued summonses to the operators of 25 express and tour buses for not having a second driver on trips exceeding 300km or four hours.
The summonses were issued during a special operation at three toll plazas in Penang.
AdvertisementJPJ said the operation began at 10pm on Christmas Eve and ended at 7am yesterday.
It was conducted on both sides of the Juru, Bukit Tambun and Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah toll plazas.

The driver of a container lorry was also found to be underage.
The department also took action after discovering that 23 buses not to have carried or maintained a driver’s logbook.

Overall, JPJ said 273 summonses were issued during the operation.
