Kota Kinabalu: The coming Gaya Street Chinese New Year Carnival saw a good response from traders as all 250 hawker stalls have been fully booked, said Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) President Tan Sri T C Goh.

Jointly organised by FCAS and City Hall (DBKK), Goh is optimistic that it would enliven the Chinese New Year atmosphere this year.

Goh thanked the local business community for their overwhelming support, but also extended his apology on behalf of FCAS for traders who did not manage to book a stall.

He also thanked Mayor Datuk Noorliza Awang Alip and her office for their full support and cooperation with FCAS to ensure a smooth process of organising the event.

The four-day long carnival will be held at Dataran Deasoka, here, from January 15 to 18 to usher in the year of the rabbit.

Organising Chairman Kapitan Fung Chun Fatt, who is also FCAS president, said the carnival will also be enlivened with five categories of talent competitions.

These include Wushu and talent performances, singing, children Chinese New Year songs, a fashion show with a cash prize pool of RM27,000.

Those interested to enter the contests may contact the FCAS secretariat through Teddy (088-253433) or Ms Lee (012-802 3282) for more information. ‬
