
Kota Kinabalu: Some 250 Indonesian couples, mostly plantation workers residing in Sabah had their marriages formally solemnised during the four-day 12th marriage solemnisation “Program Menikum-Itsbat Nikahat” starting Oct 9 at the Indonesian Consulate here.
Acting Director General for Religious Judiciary, Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia, Bambang Heri Mulyono conducted the solemnisation of marriages.
Indonesian Consul-General of Kota Kinabalu Rafail Walangitan said the ceremonial rites is an integral part of community event and important in order to formalise the union of two individuals to become a family.
“At the consulate level, we are discharging our responsibility in assisting our fellow Indo citizens living in Sabah in legalising their marriage, so that the future of their children would be in better situation, with proper documentation and administration.
