DC United are interested in signing former England striker Daniel Sturridge.
The ex-Liverpool man is out of contract and has not been able to secure a deal with any club.
ESPN indicates that DC United are undergoing talks with the injury-prone front man.
It is possible that Sturridge is seen as a replacement for Wayne Rooney, who will be heading to Derby County in a player-coach deal at the conclusion of the current MLS season.
But it is unlikely that Sturridge would command anywhere near the money that Rooney received from his DC United deal.
