TAWAU: Police detained a 28-year-old man believed to have run amok and smashed the windscreen of his father’s car at Kg Durian Merotai Besar here early Wednesday morning.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said a police report regarding the incident was lodged by the complainant, who is also the suspect’s sister, at about 9.17am.

He said the incident was reported to have occurred around 7am when the suspect allegedly became aggressive and damaged his father’s vehicle parked at the house compound.

“The complainant also reported that her younger brother often runs amok and damages items in the house when his requests are not fulfilled and frequently asks for money or borrows a motorcycle,” he said.

Jasmin said police later arrested the suspect at about 11.20am in front of his house and the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by damaging property.
