29-Year-Old Police Officer In Johor Arrested After He Reportedly Sexually Assaulted A 16-Year-Old Teen At A Local Neighborhood

Last Monday, Johor police detained an Inspector on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old young girl in the Taman Johor Jaya neighborhood.

According to Johor Police Chief, Commissioner M Kumar, the suspect, who is 29 years old and works at the Pontian District Police Headquarters (IPD), was held in the Seri Alam region for further investigation.

"An arrest was made against the suspect, and the police also seized a cell phone unit with a sim card believed to be connected to the case under investigation," the Johor Police Contingent acknowledged that they have received the police report and are looking into the problem.

"The request for remand against the suspect is allowed for six days from Tuesday to Friday," he told reporters.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act of 2017.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and whipping.
