Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes Unai Emery knows his defence must improve.
The Gunners look vulnerable once again at the back, despite signing David Luiz in the summer.
But Merson thinks Emery remains hopeful his star attacking force can balance out their weaknesses.
"I think he looks as it and thinks 'defensively, we're not really good enough, so we've got to score goals'," Merson said on The Debate.
"I think a lot of times against the lesser teams, they're sort of like they were against Burnley the week before.
"They just want to open the game up, you have a shot and we'll have a shot and we will win in the end.
"They were fortunate in a way, I thought Burnley did well.
"But in the end, they'll hope that their class comes out on top."
