Many would have lost their lives in an instant if they were to fall off from a height of 20 storeys, but for one boy in Chongqing, China, he lived to tell the tale.

This was thanks to multiple factors such as a tree helping to lessen the impact of his fall and rescuers who acted quickly to send him to the hospital.

Not long after, the boy fell from the balcony located at the 20th floor of the residential building after he climbed over it and lost his footing.

Thankfully, a tree and a bush managed to break his fall, leading him to suffer multiple fractures and internal injuries.

Security guard & police officer to the rescue

At about 8:47am that day, a security guard was alerted of the incident via an emergency notification at the compound and saw a bleeding Qiang Qiang being held in his grandmother’s arms.

Immediately, the security guard carried Qiang Qiang and ran towards a nearby hospital located 800m away instead of waiting for an ambulance.

After running for 600m, he crossed paths with a police officer, who then took over and carried the boy for the remaining distance.

Life saved within 16 mins

At the hospital, doctors and specialists began to treat Qiang Qiang, who was in a critical condition given his incoherent state, abnormal pupils, and dangerously low blood oxygen level.

Thankfully, his condition managed to be stabilised and a doctor said it took a total of 16 minutes for him to get to the hospital, be attended to by specialists, and be transferred.

Aside from the fast response of rescuers, Qiang Qiang’s small frame and light bodyweight had also saved him from a certain death.
