A young girl aged two years and nine months old was tragically killed after a concrete pillar post collapsed right on top of her last Friday (Oct 3).
Sinar Harian reported that the incident took place at the girl’s home in Taman Bukit Kristal, Seremban.
Concrete pillar crushes 2yo girl
According to a statement by Seremban district Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din, he said police were alerted of the incident at around 7.15pm.
The victim was said to have been playing with her sister before the unstable concrete pillar fell and crushed her.
“Her mother immediately rushed her to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, but she was pronounced dead at 9.14pm,” he said.
A post-mortem conducted at Rembau Hospital later found that the cause of death was due to a head injury caused by the impact of being hit by a heavy object.
Mohamad Hatta called upon the public to ensure that the structural components of their homes are built securely to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Police have since classified the case as sudden death (SDR).
