The waiting time for patients seeking services at public health clinics has been significantly reduced from three hours to just 30 minutes. This milestone is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Health to enhance healthcare efficiency through digital transformation.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad announced that this improvement was achieved by streamlining administrative processes, integrating advanced digital solutions, and optimizing clinic operations.
"We have implemented digital solutions for primary healthcare services, reducing the waiting time from three hours to just 30 minutes," said Dr. Dzulkefly. "This transformation is a crucial step toward ensuring a more efficient and accessible healthcare system for all Malaysians."
He further highlighted that the number of public health clinics has also increased, rising from 107 between 2007 and 2022 to a total of 159 in 2024. The expansion of healthcare facilities aims to meet growing demand and improve healthcare accessibility, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
"In early 2024 alone, the increase has been recorded at 48.6 percent, and 2025 will be the year of full implementation. Now, it is time for us to fulfill our promises," he added.
In March, Dr. Dzulkefly informed the Parliament that the Ministry of Health is targeting a comprehensive digital transformation of the country’s healthcare services within the next four to five years. The initiative is expected to not only improve patient experience but also enhance healthcare data management, enabling faster diagnosis and better treatment planning.
Among the initiatives undertaken include reviewing existing digital systems within the ministry, formulating new digital strategies in line with current technological advancements, and ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of these initiatives. Additionally, efforts are being made to train healthcare professionals in utilizing digital tools effectively, further ensuring the success of this transformation.
The Ministry of Health remains committed to continuously improving the healthcare system through innovation and modernization, ultimately benefiting both healthcare providers and the general public.
