The Fatehgarh Sahib police have busted a gang of criminals allegedly involved in illegal arms smuggling, drug trafficking, extortion and threat calls, having links with foreign-based handlers.
Addressing a press conference today, SP (Detective) Jaskirat Singh Ahir said the Sirhind CIA Staff conducted an operation and arrested three key members of the gang.
Those arrested have been identified as Harmandeep Singh, Roopan Singh and Gurjant Singh. The police recovered a .315 bore weapon, 30 cartridges and narcotic substances from them.
Ahir said investigations have revealed that the gang was involved in weapon smuggling and extortion activities. The accused were in contact with foreign-based handlers.
A case has been registered in this regard.
