Kota Kinabalu: A joint venture (JV) to supply halal food to Tawi-Tawi in Southern Philippines through the start soon of a designated route between Lahad Datu and Bongao in Tawi-Tawi, on Sept 28, is expected to boost the economies of both places.
Zubir bin Mohd Said, the founder of Sabah-based Zubir Food (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, said it entered into the JV with Philippine-based importer Jay Sayang Enterprise, to supply frozen halal chicken meat to Tawi-Tawi.
He said the State Government has decided to allow a passenger and cargo ferry service between both points in the spirit of BIMP-EAGA.
