MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Wednesday announced the return of 32 Filipinos from Oman who sought repatriation amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The DMW said the 32 repatriates consist of 24 overseas workers and eight family dependents.
All Filipinos arrived at Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport via Oman Air Flight WY 843.
“The airspace in the country they came from is very limited, so we found a way to cross the border into another country where they could take a flight, and now they’re here,” DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said in Filipino.
The DMW said that the government, through the cooperation of Philippine embassies and consulates, its migrant workers offices, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration implemented various measures that included arranging land transportation to safer exit points and alternative airports that remain open for international travel.
