
Kota Kinabalu: Some 338 patients underwent cataract examinations at Dewan Huguan Siou in Kg Tuavon, here, of which 167 were referred to QEH for further screening and treatment.
Their treatments will be funded by the Rotary grant. Also 274 pairs of reading glasses were distributed to those with poor reading vision in the Cataract Alleviation Campaign (pic).
The campaign under the Rotary Global Grant Project Gift of Sight 2.0 Sabah was hosted by the Rotary Club of Kinabalu Sutera.
Led by Club President Chaw Zie Der and Organising Chair Datin Agusyani, the event saw the involvement of 32 other Rotarians from the host club and other Rotary clubs in the Kota Kinabalu area.
Present were Past District Governor Philip Chong, who is the Chairman of the Regional Global Grant Project Sabah, Past District Governor Datuk George Ginibun, Past Disrict Governor Datuk Hj Zainie Aucasa and Assistant Governor Eliza Goh.
The cataract examinations were performed by four doctors from Queen Elizabeth Hositpal, who were supported by nine cataract finders from KPJ Hospital.
