SEMPORNA: The Semporna Zone Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) foiled an attempt to smuggle out 340kg of subsidized cooking oil in the district’s waters on Saturday.
Semporna Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Amir Shubli said the seizure was made by a Malaysian Maritime patrol boat that detected a suspicious pump boat around Sebangkat Island about 10.30pm.
“When approached, the boat skipper jumped into the sea, swam and made his escape to nearby shores.
