LAHAD DATU: A total of 35 Umno branches from the Lahad Datu division comprising 3,512 members have quit the party and pledged their support to the GRS government under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Leading the departure from Umno, Momen Angchai said all members from 32 Tungku branches and three others from Segama will be joining PGRS.

Momen said the decision was made based on the goals and direction of Sabah under Hajiji's leadership who has successfully formed a coalition of local parties for Sabah's peace and harmony.

"I also made this decision as I realised that Tungku was in need of more development that needed the government's assistance," he said.
