SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — Thirty-seven families in Sungai Burong, Tanjong Karang, affected by floods on Friday, will receive aid of RM500 each.

Yayasan MBI head Ahmad Azri Zainal said every family will be given a food basket to help them with kitchen essentials.

“We have prepared post-flood aid. (We were) informed while at the temporary relief centre (PPS) that aid from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) is sufficient.

“We want to avoid wastage and excess aid (at the PPS). After (victims) go home, we will expedite aid delivery,” Azri told Media Selangor.

As of yesterday, JKM’s Info Bencana portal showed one PPS at the Tanjong Karang Farmer Management Institute in Kuala Selangor is still open, sheltering 101 victims from 36 families.

Every year, Yayasan MBI, a state government subsidiary, allocates RM1 million to help victims of disasters including floods, fires, landslides and storms.
