Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson believes that it was imperative for the club to keep their star players.

While the Cherries have not made too many big money purchases this summer, they have managed to hold onto the likes of Wilson, David Brooks and Nathan Ake.

It means they have a core group that has been together for the past few years.

The Cherries are hoping they can break into the top half of a European place in the league in the coming season.

Wilson said to the Daily Echo about players staying put: "That's massive for the club, to keep our best players.

"They had a great season last year, so for us to keep hold of them is important to improve next season.

"At the moment the window is still open. Hopefully it closes soon and they're all still here. That's the most important thing."
