
Kota Kinabalu: Some 4,425 youths in Sabah are involved in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), said Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan.
Fairuz said that out of this figure, 4,101 are under the Department of Industrial Development and Research, while 324 are part of the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry Ministry's agency programme.
“The Ministry does not have a direct role in SMEs,” he said during the State Legislative Assembly session here, on Wednesday, in response to a question from Usukan assemblyman Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.
