Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Immigration Department has carried out the repatriation process for 4,730 illegal immigrants to their countries of origin between Jan 1 and July 20 this year, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said as of July 27, there were a total of 3,839 foreign detainees still placed in four Immigration depots in Sabah.
“The repatriations are conducted by air, land and sea,” Hajiji said in a written reply to PAS Assemblyman Dr Aliakbar Gulasan who asked about the number of illegal immigrants in Sabah, during an oral question session at the State Assembly sitting in August, which Aliakbar shared on his Facebook account Tuesday.
Hajiji said there are 3,115 detainees from the Philippines still placed in the Immigration depots, followed by Indonesia (700), Pakistan (six), Vietnam (five), India (two), Thailand (one), while 10 others are stateless individuals.

Read more He said the number of foreigners who passed through the gazetted entry points in Sabah, whether by air, sea or land, for the first six months of this year, was 288,286 through international routes and more than 1.95 million through domestic routes.
