Four people were killed when a combine harvester machine rammed into a car on the Bahraich-Nepal road here, police said on Monday.
The accident took place on Sunday night, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishwajeet Srivastava said on Monday.
While four people in the car died on the spot, two others sustained critical injuries.
Police said the deceased have been identified as Anil Kumar (40), Anil Kumar (42), Mahendra Pal (45) and Altaf Ahmed (38).
The injured have been identified as Shivam Srivastava (30) and Ashwini Kumar (30), both residents of Bahraich city.
Police have sent the bodies for a postmortem examination.
A search is under way for the combine harvester machine and its driver.
