Four crew members of the MV Epaminondas returned home on Tuesday night via Doha, Qatar, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
In a statement on Wednesday, the DMW said the four arrived in a Qatar Airways flight that landed in Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
The four were welcomed by members of the DMW, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Manila International Airport Authority, and representatives of their licensed manning agency.
They received financial assistance from DMW and OWWA, as well a temporary hotel accommodation.
Also, they would join two of their colleagues undergoing medical assessment.
“The six Filipino seafarers have since been reunited with their families after the security incident involving their vessel in the Persian Gulf region. Another crew member is expected to arrive on Thursday, while the remaining three will be repatriated once clearance is granted by Iranian military authorities,” the DMW said.
The vessel was seized by the Iranian navy last April.
