Before we continue this article, I’d wish to point out that I am in no way paid by any of these app developers to promote their apps. These apps I am suggesting are some of the apps I think Malaysians should use more in their daily lives to make things easier. I have been using some of these apps quite regularly and they have been really useful in my life. I hope these apps can be useful to you and your daily lives too.

1. Moovit

Moovit has both a desktop version and an app version. For the most part, I have been using the app more often than not. As someone who does not own a car, this app is some kind of lifesaver for people like me. The app basically lets you know the best routes to take when you are travelling on foot from one destination to another. It also shows you the duration of your trip from one destination to another. And yes, you can save locations for future reference too.

If you wish to go to the closest train station, it also shows you how to get there. It will come up with a route (and alternative routes on how to get there. If you need to take a bus, it will also indicate in its guide too.

2. Pulse by Prasarana

There are 2 Pulse apps known in Malaysia. One is by Prudential and the other one is by Prasarana. I am referring to the one by Prasarana. This app basically tells you the travel time and availability of the trains on all rail lines. If there are any accidents or line disruptions, you will learn from this app. It also shows the fare amounts for concessions, regular cardholders, and token/ticket users.

If you are a frequent public transport user, then this is a good app for you to have. If there are any new line updates you will hear from here.

3. inDriver

For some people, Grab has become too expensive to peruse. If budget is your option, then may I suggest inDriver? At one point in time, inDriver does not have a lot of available drivers. However, I have noticed in recent weeks and months that the app actually has more drivers now. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. Any cab-hailing apps would love to have more drivers for obvious reasons. It will mean more profit for them.

Basically how this app works is almost similar to Hrab. You set your location and your destination and offer your fare. The drivers will counter offer with their fares and you’ll see for yourself if you are willing to pay that amount.

I should mention here that sometimes the fares from inDriver are higher than what Grab is offering. It also depends on where you are headed for. Some people who live further away from their destination may get cheaper offers than what they are getting on Grab. However, that does not apply to everyone and every location.

4. Maxim

Maxim, sometimes also called Taximaxim, is another cab-hailing ride app that functions similar to Grab and InDriver. Its fares are slightly cheaper than what Grab has to offer but it’s not entirely that cheap either. Besides offering cab-hailing services, it also offers delivery and food delivery services.

Bottom Line

If you ever need to look for any useful apps, you should check out these apps. Who knows what you may get out of it in the long run.
