KENINGAU: The Sabah Forestry Department (SFD) is optimistic that 40 million trees will be planted in the State by 2025, said Sabah Chief Conservator of Forests Datuk Frederick Kugan.
Frederick said the outlook is promising based on records up to the beginning of August which showed that 13 million trees in Sabah had been successfully planted so far since the launch of the nationwide Malaysian Greening programme on Jan 5, 2021.
The programme aims to get 100 million trees planted by 2025, and of that number 40 million trees are planted in Sabah.
Frederick said there is a balance of 37 million trees left to plant in the State, which is not impossible to achieve if all parties cooperate and participate in the programme.
