The Sabah Government remains confident that the struggle for Sabah’s constitutional rights will not be in vain, said State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
He said the State Government also welcomed the High Court’s decision affirming Sabah’s constitutional right to the 40 per cent special grant under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
“On this occasion, on behalf of the Sabah Government, I would like to express our highest appreciation to the Sabah Law Society.
“This decision is an important milestone that reflects the success of Sabah’s persistent, continuous and consistent efforts in upholding and defending the State’s rights, alongside constructive cooperation with the federal government,” he said while tabling the 2026 Budget at the State Legislative Assembly.
Masidi, who is also Deputy Chief Minister II, said the first meeting of the Special Grant Negotiation Committee was held on Nov 17.
Last week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, gave an assurance that another meeting would be held by the middle of next month on the payment Sabah is entitled to receive from the 40 per cent revenue formula.
“Sabah remains confident that the struggle for the State’s constitutional rights undertaken by all parties will not be in vain.
“This rightful claim will bring significant benefits to all Sabahans,” Masidi said.
