A 40-year-old man was shot to death at a restaurant in Johor Bahru, Johor, when he was having a meal with his friend yesterday (January 8).
In an official statement by the Chief Police of Johor Bahru, Datuk M. Kumar said the police received a report about the matter around 12 PM at a restaurant in Taman Setia Indah, Johor Bahru.
Police found 4 gunshot wounds on the victim’s body, and a special force has been set up to investigate the matter, which is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The motive behind the case, however, is still being identified.
In other reports by Sin Chew, CCTV footage and witnesses said the shooter came alone in a grey hoodie, sunglasses, and a face mask. The suspect was also seen coming to the eatery with his motorcycle and immediately fleeing the scene after killing the victim.
The incident took place in less than 10 seconds.
Witnesses also said that before the shooting happened, the victim was having his meal with a few friends at the restaurant.
It was also reported that the victim worked as a debt collector near the restaurant, and he would often have his meals at the restaurant during his break time.
A vendor in the restaurant, who has been there for 6 years told Sin Chew that the place had always been safe and it was the first time such a horrendous crime happened.
The management of the victim’s workplace, on the other hand, refused to comment on the matter at the time being.
