42 Filipinos deported via Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: The Sabah Immigration Department repatriated 42 Filipinos from here to Bongao Harbour, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, Tuesday.

The programme involved 36 men and six women, aged between 22 and 58 years.

Sabah Immigration Director Datuk SH Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff said all those involved in the programme were from the Tawau Immigration Depots.

She said up to 4,447 foreigners, including 2,891 Filipinos, 1,314 Indonesians, 113 Pakistanis, 92 China nationals, 18 Vietnamese and 19 others have been repatriated under the programme to date.

All deportees had completed legal procedures in Malaysia and possessed verified travel documents, she added.

Sitti Saleha said the department will take stern action without compromise against any employers protecting foreign workers without valid documents.

She also reminded the people to not shelter or protect illegal immigrants.
