Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar on Saturday said that three pradhans, two up-pradhans and 415 ward members have been declared elected unopposed in Una district.

As many as 420 candidates have been elected unopposed in the elections to various posts of panchayati raj institutions (PRI) in Bilaspur district. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar on Saturday said that three pradhans, two up-pradhans and 415 ward members had been declared elected unopposed in the district. He added that the candidates for all posts in Chandoh gram panchayat of Ghumarwin Development Block had been declared elected unopposed. He said that 135 ward members in Sadar Development Block had been elected uncontested.

He added that one pradhan and one up-pradhan and 129 panchayat members in Ghumarwin Development Block had been elected unopposed while in Jhanduta development block, one pradhan and 96 panchayat members had been elected unopposed. In Shri Naina Devi Ji development block, one pradhan, one up-pradhan and 55 panchayat members had been elected unopposed.

The Deputy Commissioner said that as per the schedule, the elections to panchayati raj institutions would be held in three phases on May 26, 28 and 30. The counting of votes for gram panchayat elections would take place immediately after polling while the counting of votes for Block Development Committees and the Zila Parishad would be held on May 31.
