
KALABAKAN: A total of 426 people and 224 vehicles were inspected during a two-day Kalabakan Road Checkpoint Integrated Operation from Nov 16-18.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) Commander Datuk Victor Sanjos said 66 officers and personnel took part in the operation aimed at combating illegal immigrants and cross-border crime.
Eight undocumented Filipinos and Indonesians were apprehended during the operation and turned over to the Immigration Department for further action.
Two other individuals were arrested after they were found with homemade bakakuk rifles and live ammo hidden inside a car and premises.
The duo were sent to the Tawau police headquarters for further investigations under Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960.
Six others were detained after testing positive for methamphetamine.
All six were also taken to the Tawau police headquarters for investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The operation also saw 21 summonses issued for various traffic offences.
