
PETALING JAYA: Indonesian police say at least 45 Malaysians were victims of alleged extortion by police personnel during the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) concert held recently.
The national police’s profession and security division head, Inspector-General Abdul Karim, said they had seized evidence totalling 2.5 billion rupiahs (RM717,000), Bernama reported.
AdvertisementMalaysians had lodged two official complaints, he said at a press conference broadcast live by Metro TV.
Their identities would be protected throughout the investigation, he added.

Read more Karim said the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) was monitoring the case closely to ensure transparency and fairness in the investigation.
He said police would take firm action against anyone breaking the law.

The Malaysians had claimed they were forced to undergo urine tests, asked to show their passports and pressured to pay money even though their drug test results returned negative.
