
KOTA MARUDU: Forty-five people were trapped when a bridge was swept away by strong currents caused by a sudden water surge in Kampung Longob here on Monday.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said all the victims were participating in a fishing competition at a nearby pond.
"The fire brigade rescued all the victims using ropes and ladders, and no injuries were reported," he said in a statement.
