PENAMPANG: Police detained a 45-year-old foreign man and seized 52.55g of suspected syabu worth about RM6,000 in an operation at Jalan Penampang Lama here on Tuesday night.
Penampang police chief Supt Sammy Newton said the suspect was detained by Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division personnel at about 11pm following information received by police, with a transparent plastic packet containing suspected syabu found in his possession.
He said an initial urine screening test on the suspect was also positive for methamphetamine.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for suspected drug trafficking, as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for allegedly self-administering drugs.
He is currently detained to assist investigations, with police urging the public to provide information on drug-related or other criminal activities for further action.
