
TAWAU: Police arrested five suspects, including a woman, who were busy taking drugs in a raid at an abandoned building in the township, here, Tuesday.
District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the five suspects used the abandoned building as a ‘den’ for drug addiction.
He said police also found a transparent packet containing crystal-clear, suspected to be syabu along with a plastic rod of beverage inhalers used to suck drugs.
The five suspects were brought to the Tawau police station for further investigation and all of them were tested positive for drug abuse. Police are investigating case under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
Jasmin expressed gratitude and appreciation to the swift action of the public in disseminating information to the police. He hoped the community would continue to work together with the enforcement teams in combating drugs and crimes in Tawau.
