50-year-old charged following Ann Widdecombe social media post

A 50-year-old has been arrested and charged following a post on social media about the death of former MP Ann Widdecombe.

Ms Widdecombe, 78, was was found dead at her home in Haytor on Dartmoor, Devon, last Thursday.

Police received a report about a post on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received reports on Saturday July 11 relating to a post made online.

“Following further assessment, a 50-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
