MENUMBOK: About 500 residents of Kampung Sekalong will benefit from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living's (KPDN) Madani Adopted Village Project, aimed at improving basic infrastructure and community wellbeing.
KPDN Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the Kuala Penyu village was selected based on several criteria, including having less than 50 per cent coverage of basic amenities.
He said the Federal Government allocated RM500,000 to each participating ministry and agency to implement development projects under their respective adopted villages, with five projects identified for Kampung Sekalong following engagement sessions with residents and community leaders.
"The projects include the construction of an open multipurpose hall, upgrading of village roads, construction and repair of drainage culverts, installation of solar-powered lights and construction of a landmark for Kampung Sekalong," he said after launching the project on Saturday.
Armizan said the Madani Adopted Village initiative, which received a RM200 million allocation this year, will benefit 500 villages nationwide through infrastructure upgrades, community engagement and delivery of government services directly to rural communities.
