
SANDAKAN: Some 520 undocumented immigrants were deported to the Philippines from here by the Immigration Department on Wednesday.
The deportees from the Tawau temporary detention depot, who were arrested for violation of the country’s travel regulations, were repatriated via MV Antonia 1 ferry bound for Zamboanga City.
Dakota Marine Agency Chief Executive Officer (CEO,) Juvy Tulipas, said the deportees comprised 452 males, 46 females, 21 children and one child below 23 months, adding the children were accompanied by their parents or custodians.
Dakota Marine is a local-based company appointed by Aleson Shipping Line to assist and facilitate the smooth implementation of the deportation exercise.
