57th MATTA Fair targets over RM250 million in sales amid rising travel demand

THE Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is aiming for over RM250 million in sales at its upcoming 57th MATTA Fair this September, buoyed by fresh interest in regional travel and support from the government’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.

Its president, Nigel Wong, said that while previous editions typically recorded sales of around RM250 million, this year’s outlook is particularly optimistic.

"With the government’s push and robust demand within the region, we expect sales to lean in that direction, including increased spending on domestic tourism," he said at a press conference on Monday, where Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) was announced as the main sponsor and official airline partner.

He noted that exhibitors this year are introducing a variety of new travel products and attractions.

“Many are returning with fresh, creative packages and experiences. We are confident this will encourage greater spending, particularly in the domestic market,” he added.

The upcoming edition also gains a special boost from MAG’s participation, with the aviation group set to present the MAG Arena – a futuristic-themed experience zone featuring interactive exhibits, exclusive giveaways, and appearances by Manchester United legends and renowned sports personalities.

“With MAG’s support, we have a partner who understands the importance of connecting people and destinations. This aligns with our mission to provide more meaningful travel experiences,” said Wong.

Visitors who make bookings at the fair will receive instant gifts, while the MATTA Fair Buyers’ Contest offers a grand prize of business class return tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Paris.

To ensure a smooth experience for attendees, the 57th MATTA Fair will offer free entry from 10am to 9pm across all three days. Free shuttle services will also be available from KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

For those driving, parking will be available at MITEC South Entrance (lower ground), the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) lower ground level, the open car park at MATRADE, and The MET’s lower ground.

“All these arrangements are in place to ensure visitors can enjoy a comfortable and entertaining travel shopping experience,” Wong concluded. - August 25, 2025
