Retired military veteran Hamidan has once again demonstrated that age is no barrier to learning.

After achieving an impressive A in Mathematics for the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) in 2022, he has continued his academic journey by scoring a commendable B+ in Science in 2023.

Inspiration to his grandchildren

In an interview with Harian Metro, Hamidan expressed his hope that his efforts would serve as an inspiration to his grandchildren.

“Even at an advanced age, I believe in the saying ‘live and learn,'” he stated.

Hamidan, who currently works as a driver at the 504th Reserve Camp, first attempted the SPM in 1982.

“I study late at night due to work commitments, and my children have helped me by purchasing reference books,” he explained.

Taking SPM subject one by one

Hamidan did not expect to achieve such high scores and plans to continue taking SPM subjects one by one.

“I didn’t register for all the subjects at once because I wasn’t confident I could handle them all. So, I decided to take it one subject at a time,” he said.

This remarkable achievement highlights Hamidan’s determination and serves as a powerful reminder that it is never too late to pursue education and personal growth.
