Chris Smalling is expected to return to Manchester United once his season-long loan with Roma expires.
There has been constant speculation that the two clubs will agree a permanent deal for the defender.
But Sky Sports claims no such talks have taken place and Roma are not committed to negotiations.
Smalling has played just six games for the Serie A club.
