Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen says Jurgen Klopp should have started Trent Alexander-Arnold in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Napoli.

Joe Gomez was given a run at right-back instead of usual starter Alexander-Arnold.

And Owen thinks the 20-year-old's crossing prowess would've tested Napoli.

"I was surprised that Trent Alexander-Arnold didn't start, I must say," Owen said on BT Sport.

"He just gives them so much width and attacking crosses.

"Some of the crosses were quite hopeful. They were almost chipping the ball in and Napoli played with almost five at the back and it was just perfect Koulibaly was heading everything out.

"So I just thought Liverpool played slightly into Napoli's hands. They didn't really create too many chances.

"I thought Liverpool were brilliant in the last five minutes of the first half but apart from that they didn't really play with their normal attacking potency."
