The community, shocked by the sudden aggression, is now on high alert.

Eyewitness Che Hasmani Che Mat, 51, recounted the chilling episode, noting it took place around 2 pm when the child was playing alone outside his home.

According to Hasmani the monkeys, familiar visitors to the area, usually scavenged for food but had never before launched such a brutal attack on a human.

Adding to the narrative, neighbor Siti Aishah Awang revealed that the monkeys had been a presence in the area for two years without any previous incidents of human assault.

Zulkhairi Mohamad Ghazi, the local chief of Mukim Tualang, confirmed that a report of the incident has been filed with the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (Perhilitan).

The residents are anxiously awaiting a response and hope for measures to prevent future such occurrences.

The incident has raised concerns about wildlife-human interactions in the area, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and safety measures in communities coexisting with wildlife.
