6,000 expected at Tawau Carnival on August 12 and 13

TAWAU: Some 6,000 visitors are expected at the 2023 East Coast Zone Entrepreneurship and Career Carnival at the Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) square on Aug 12 and 13.

The carnival had for the first time here is organized by the Women’s Exco of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

The organising chairperson, Shazlinah Lai Wun Fong, said 20 agencies are expected to participate, including Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara).

She called on youth, women and job seekers to use this opportunity to find a job and information on how to become an entrepreneur or start a business.

Moreover, activities such as games, cultural dance performances, lucky draws, Mobile Legend, competition, children’s fashion competition and concerts would also be held throughout the two-day carnival from 8am to 11pm, which is expected to be officiated by Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Local artistes such as Yazeer, Kuden Rafiee, Katalina, Sakinah and Felix Agus will also perform during the event.

A lion dance performance, drum beating and cultural dances will make the event more interesting,” he said.

The police will also make a special war-themed performance based on the story of the tragedy in Tanduo, Lahad Datu in 2013, she said.
