A 61-year-old retired supervisor has struck gold after he was named the winner of a Toto 4D Jackpot 1 and won a whopping RM20.17 million.

He takes the lion’s share of the prize pool that was worth RM20.32 million, reported TheSun Malaysia.

Betted RM2 on sports cars’ number plates

The unnamed bachelor, who hails from Melaka and previously worked in the oil palm industry, said the inspiration for his winning numbers came to him during a trip to the mall.

While there, his eyes were caught by two blue sports cars parked adjacent to each other and this caused him to place a RM2 bet on their number plates.

To his shock, his bet paid off handsomely and he found himself turning into a millionaire overnight when he won RM20,169,749.3.

“I’ve been playing Toto for nearly three decades and always hoped for a significant win, though nothing of this magnitude ever crossed my mind,” he added.

However, the retiree has no plans to splurge on his winnings and instead plans to invest the prize money wisely to ensure long-term growth.

Aside from him, another winner from Sarawak secured the remaining RM146,688.95 in the November 23 draw.
