650 litres of subsidised diesel seized in Kalabakan

TAWAU: A bid to conceal 650 litres of subsidised diesel believed to be intended for the black market was uncovered after General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 14 raided a house in Kampung Ulu Brantian, Kalabakan, on Monday night.

The 8.14pm raid at an unnumbered house in an oil palm plantation area led to the seizure of the diesel, an Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) tank, a two-horsepower water pump and about 27 metres of fuel hose, with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM20,000.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Sabah said on Tuesday the seized items had been handed over by GOF Battalion 14 Tawau to KPDN Tawau for further action.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, with KPDN warning that individuals or companies found hoarding or misusing controlled and subsidised goods face heavy penalties, including fines of up to RM5 million for repeat corporate offenders.

KPDN said it would continue working closely with other enforcement agencies to curb the smuggling, hoarding and misappropriation of controlled and subsidised goods while ensuring firm action against offenders.
