Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde admits Arthur Melo was dropped for the win at Leganes on Saturday.
Valverde made it clear that it was his decision rather than an injury.
"Arthur's exclusion the other day was because of a coaching decision," Valverde said on Tuesday.
"He returned well from the [Brazilian] national team.
"Sometimes he has been a starter and sometimes he has not. He has to win his position."
