Former Porto defender Felipe Monteiro is delighted with his move to Atletico Madrid.

Felipe is excited to get going at Atletico Madrid and he's been using a former Rojiblanco defender as a model to build his own game on.

Joao Miranda was part of Atletico's 2014/15 LaLiga Santander title-winning team, and he's been someone that Felipe has looked to emulate.

"They have great players," Felipe said at the press conference after his presentation.

"Diego Godin was very good, he's aggressive, but there are others too.

"Miranda has been a great reference. I've followed him since I was small. Now I have to stay focused and work."

He added, "Godin was a great centre-back and he's had his history here.

"He had his time here and they love him a lot, but I have my story too.

"I'm not here to replace Godin. I want to continue the work I was doing at Porto.

"I'll have my own story."
